I rather enjoyed the lessons, and am pleased to report that I was very surprised with how everything you taught was so applicable in musical situations. I half expected this video to be all double bass speed garbage, but your site enticed me to get it anyway. While I do have a double bass, I'm already finding this method is as good if not better on a single pedal which I prefer. Thats cause double bass is already expected to have speed. I've been drumming for almost 8 years (not consecutive) but never taken any lessons as I was self-taught. "I am playing doubles with my feet nearly as fast as my hand..." I have been playing drums for over 20 years and have been to many teachers for lessons, and have struggled to get any speed with my feet. I have been shown every technique known to man, but I have worked through your dvd and I can't believe how fast my feet are playing. I am playing doubles with my feet nearly as fast as my hands, also the one handed roll is starting to flow very smoothly. I have also studied jazz for a while, and the way you teach is very good the dvd is very informative and easy to follow, when a lot of drummers are put off by playing jazz by the shear complexity of the rythmns and the music, this is a good starting point for any one wanting to take up jazz. I have purchased loads of dvd's over the years. Alot of the musicians are keen to show you all there fills, but don't really show you the techniques to master these. I'll just say that these are the most informative dvd's I have watched in years. Darren Bland |
